People of Tatarstan,
I would like to greet you on behalf of the Tatarstan State Council, the Government and personally from all my heart on the occasion of our traditional national holiday of Sabantui!
The symbols and traditions of this feast of the plough are extremely dear to Tatars, wherever they live. Old customs, dancing and singing, rites and games blend together in Sabantui, making it a powerful factor for the spiritual unity, the holiday for our souls that gives each and everyone a chance to get involved in the traditions and spiritual values of our people, our rich and original culture.

I am sure that this year of our great poet Gabdulla Tukai will hear his heartfelt poems that glorify the homeland and his people ring over maidans. A caring attitude to the spiritual heritage and the people is an essential condition for Tatarstan’s social, cultural well-being and further creative development.
May this Sabantui give us strong overwhelming impressions and energy, inspire us to successful undertakings!
